Summer Garland in 5 Minutes

Happy Friday!

Now that summer is in full swing have you planned your summer bucket list? Your absolute to-do’s for the summer? I worked on ours this week and put them all up on my giant chalkboard. And then, it needed something special. Like something to make it feel more summery. Like  summer garland.

So, I made this summer garland in 5 minutes.

Summer Garland in 5 minutes

I kind of love any type of garland. Like any. I just want to make and put garland everywhere. Anyone else?

I had some really cute nautical inspired wrapping paper that was simply perfect for this.

It started with wrapping paper cut into half circles. My wrapping paper was double sided so I did larger half circles with one side and smaller half circles for the other side.

After the half circles were cut I hot glued them to some jute.

I ended up with two strands of garland, one of each design, one smaller and one larger.

Then I layered them on the chalkboard and secured it with some regular ol’ tape.

Perfect addition to my bucket list chalkboard, I think.

Now when I’m sitting at my desk working like crazy I can look up and be reminded of all the fun I’m supposed to be having this summer! If that’s not a motivator, I don’t know what is!

Happy summer! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Glitter Snowflake Garland

Hi friends! I can’t believe how close we are to Christmas. Today I pulled the Christmas stuff out of the garage. This will actually be the first time in three years that I’ve been able to decorate for the holidays. Needless to say, I’m pretty excited. In the spirit of the wintery holiday I want to share this fun craft. My Glitter Snowflake Garland.

I love glitter! It’s true. This snowflake garland makes me think of a winter wonderland. Something I won’t be seeing this holiday season!  I had to laugh at myself when I was hanging this garland in my shorts and flip flops. Silly.

The inspiration for this project came from a bag of blue and white, glitter and sequins, styrofoam balls I picked up at Michaels. Perfect for garland!

The supplies I used for this project were:

snowflakes (mine are wood – came from Michaels)

glitter (I used white, silver, and blue)

glitter styrofoam balls

yarn needle

ribbon, twine, or yarn to string your garland

To begin, Paint some modge podge on the snowflakes and then dump sprinkle some glitter on top. Tap off the excess. ( I used a piece of cardstock for this so I could easily fold it in half and funnel the leftover glitter back into the containers.) Set aside to dry.

Once the snowflakes are dry you are ready to string your garland.

Thread your string through your yarn needle.

Start stringing your styrofoam balls onto your string by poking your needle through the center of the ball.

Every few balls, hot glue a snowflake onto the string.

Continue to string the balls and add snowflakes until you reach your desired garland length.

I love simple and quick projects like this! Would this be great for a holiday party? Or a winter wonderland themed evening? Makes you want to grab a cup of hot cocoa doesn’t it?

Thanks for coming by!
