Hi friends. Today, I’m thrilled to invite you in (again) for the second part of my summer home tour. My sweet friend Nina Hendrick is hosting an incredible group of bloggers (pinching myself that I’m among them) for an awesome Simply Summer home tour. Be sure to scroll all the way down to get the entire line-up and visit each of their tours.
If you are new to MHB, welcome! I’m so excited that you stopped in. I’m Chelsea – mama of two sweet little girls and military spouse getting acquainted with southern living down here in sunny (code for hot and humid) Florida. I’m a self-proclaimed rental expert that finally got my hands on a cute foreclosure (we lovingly call it the Florida house – I know, so original) that we’re giving a little TLC – you can read all about that here. Enough babbling, you’re here to see some summery home decor stuff and I’m happy to oblige.
Part 1 of my summer home tour was all about my living room and I shared my best summer decorating ideas with you. Those ideas included lots of greenery and lots of navy + white, which isn’t too far off from my regular decor because navy + white is my jam.
Part 2 of the home tour is all about my kitchen.
Ever since I discovered my decorating style, I’ve been a tiny bit afraid of colors outside of white and blue. Sure, I might throw a bit of green in there on a good day but I usually stick with what I know, which is blue and white. However, it’s summer and I love colorful floral sundresses in the summer, and this tablecloth reminded me of a summery sundress, I thought what the heck – let’s go with some color.
These blue and white striped pillows are the perfect pattern to complement the floral, I think.
Our galley kitchen has a great eat-in area, where we eat all of our meals. We’ve got a nice big window for which we built a window seat which does double duty by providing added storage.
Since we eat all of our meals here, I like to keep the table pretty clear so I love using a nice big tray for decorating. I love styling a tray here because you can easily pick it up and move it to the counter when it’s time to eat (or color, or play play-doh, or ponies – you know the typical things that happen around the table).
I can’t say that I picked nine pounds of watermelon, but we definitely eat a ton of it throughout the summer. It’s my daughter’s very favorite snack and she’ll give up blueberries for watermelon any day of the week.
In part 1 of my home tour I shared a quick summer home decorating tip on bringing greenery inside for a fresh look. I clipped my fern and popped a few of the clippings in little vases.
Our kitchen doesn’t have a ton of counter space but I do try to keep the counter free of gadget and junk on this little section. It usually serves as a prep area or a drink station or just a cute little spot for a vignette but it’s always the cleanest part of my kitchen and I’m grateful for that.
I can’t express, how thrilled I am that you stopped by today. I hope you’ll come back soon. For now, you have some more summer home tours to see…
