One thing I love about blogging is the community, thanks so much for visiting! I love sharing with my readers and learning from all of you! One thing you’ll notice is that I’m a lover of a lived in home. To me, decorating style should be attainable and create a home that you love. So what I do here is throw out any preset rules and instead design the most fiercely lived in home I possibly can for my family.
I didn’t always have a style I was proud of. For a long time, I denied the look I loved because I wanted to like something else. Whenever that happens, you end up with a home designed for someone else, and you can never feel comfortable in a home designed for someone other than you!
I’ve always been drawn to coastal and nautical touches but constantly felt myself pulling away from them because of two reasons: I don’t have a lake house and my husband is in the Navy. I thought, wouldn’t it be cliche for me to have all of this nautical stuff in my house? Or aren’t coastal homes just for beach and lake houses? Won’t my home be out of place?
I also desperately wanted to be “on trend.” Truth, I love seeing new trends and experimenting. I remember the chevron trend, and then the ombre, and who knows what will be next. None of which have ever felt like me but in an effort to be trendy, I thought, meh I could like that. Here’s the thing, trends come and go. Sometimes they come and go so quickly by the time you incorporate them they are already out. Staying true to YOU is the best thing you can do when it comes to styling your home.
You will never feel more satisfied with your decor than when you decorate it for YOU!
