DIY Succulent Terrarium | DIY Friday

It’s DIY Friday. I’m loving terrariums right now. They are chic planters and with the right plants they are really low maintenance. I found the perfect terrarium planter at Home Goods a few weeks back with the intentions of creating my own terrarium for my office and I’m going to share the tutorial with you today.

  • Succulents

How to create a DIY succulent terrarium

This project is insanely simple and you can get as elaborate or as simple as you’d like. I think the key here is to have a beautiful planter that allows you to see the layers of the planter. I went pretty simple but I do love the ones that are stuffed with multiple species of succulents of different shapes and colors. To make this DIY succulent terrarium, fill your planter with a small layer of rocks, sand, or pebbles.

Next, you’ll gently soften your succulent plant away from all of the dirt, you want to get as much dirt off as possible without destroying the root ball. Then, you’ll plant your succulent within the rocks of the terrarium. It will be a little flimsy in there but you’ll add some more rocks over top to secure it. You’ll continue to add plants to your terrarium until you’re happy with the look.

I just added the two and it’s simple yet beautiful.

It has a home on my desk in my newly decorated office (to be shared soon).

Ps. I’m headed to Jekyll Island, Georgia this weekend with my family. I’ll be sharing on Instagram while I’m there! If you’ve been, let me know your favorite activities and restaurants! xo
