Grand Re-Opening of The Home Depot Genesee

This past week my local Home Depot, The Home Depot Genesee , had their Grand Re-Opening event. They had great events going on for several days and on Thursday, I was invited to attend their Do It Herself (DIH) workshop. I brought along my fabulous friend, Michelle and made a ladies night of it.
The workshop was all about learning how to build an adirondack chair! I loved that they sent you home with a booklet that included the plans and directions!
Chris, our teacher for the evening was incredible! She is a veteran DIH’er, and has worked for The Home Depot for over 20 years. I loved that she was honest about the difficulty of the project. She didn’t try to make it look easy, there were a few snags along the way, but she persevered and got it all completed, showing us that yeah, us girls can do it ourselves!
She even let a few of us ladies get up close to show up all components of the compound miter saw. It was awesome! After the workshop we got to run around the store on a super fun scavenger hunt. Even though we didn’t win, it was fun to run around and get better acquainted with the store.
They even had a fun photo backdrop set up. Here’s a group shot of some of the other bloggers and their guests that attended the event, including my friend Tara from A Spectacled Owl and her sweet daughter Ashlyn! I’m front and center and my sweet friend Michelle, is right behind me.
I have to say, I really love how organized the store is. The aisles are clearly labeled, making finding what you are looking for a breeze. And if you can’t find what you are looking for, the associates are so helpful, they will direct you right to what you need!
I was so excited to get working on those adirondack chairs that I went back to The Home Depot yesterday to take a look at tools! The tool section has to be my absolute favorite part of the store (bet ya don’t hear many ladies saying that)! Everything was so organized and clear, I was able to compare the different brands easily and could even put my hands on the tools to try them out. It was awesome!
I can’t wait for the next, DIH event! Michelle and I have already decided, it’s going to be our regular girls night out event!
The newly reopened Home Depot Genesee now features a 40,000 square foot Outdoor Garden Center, larger kitchen and appliance showrooms, a millwork showroom, an improved Pro-Desk and expanded tool rental.
It also provides workshops and events year-round that the whole family can participate in. Please visit https://www.facebook.com/Home.Depot.Genesee.Ca for more information.

So glad we got to see you again & meet Michelle! It really was a fun night!
That’s awesome! I’ve been trying to get my husband to build me an adirondack chair for years. I guess I should just do it myself. 😉
