Favorite Beach Essentials from Walmart

A couple of weeks ago we were able to escape the desert heat for the beautiful beaches of Oceanside, California. Oceanside is just under a three-hour drive from our home but man is it a world away. We are 100% a beach family. This tour in Twentynine Palms is the first time we’ve lived away from the beach in nine years. Having an opportunity to cruise over to the beach for four days really filled all of our cups. Now that the girls are a bit older, my beach day essentials have changed since they were toddlers. I can load up our car with everything we need including lunches, snacks, and drinks, and we can spend the whole day at the beach. It’s wonderful!
Last summer we went to the beach with the bare minimum, just ourselves and a couple of towels. It was an insanely hot day and we were all miserable. I vowed, that day, to always come to the beach prepared from here on out. It’s a bit of work planning a beach trip, gathering the supplies, and hauling it down to the beach, but once you’re lounging at the beach for the day, it is all worth it.

Sun Hat | I’m all about getting as much sun protection as possible and look stylish while doing it. I love this trendy woven sun hat. It’s less than $15, completely foldable/packable which makes it a great beach accessory.
Hard Side Cooler | We have this hard side cooler and a smaller soft cooler that I love for different reasons, when we’re headed to the beach I almost always grab this one. I love the zippered top and it’s so spacious.
Insulated Tote Bag | In addition to the cooler, I like this insulated beach bag. You can bring drinks and snacks without worry. Also, it makes for a great wet bag for bathing suits to carry home since its lining is waterproof. Double use!
Ball and Disk Game | This little game is just a few dollars but it’s hours of entertainment. Everyone in my family loves this game. It’s simple enough for the girls to enjoy and you can get super competitive with it which makes it very fun for Matt and me.
Bluetooth Speaker | I got this speaker right before we left for our trip. I wanted something I could bring down the beach so we could listen to tunes throughout the day. This speaker exceeded my expectations. Not only was the sound great, but the battery life was awesome. I didn’t have to charge it the whole trip.
Beach Chairs | A beach trip isn’t complete without a pair of comfy beach chairs. These are just that but they also come in really pretty colors!
C’est Moi Sunscreen | My holy grail of sunscreen! It’s reef safe which is important to me. If you have any melanin in your skin at all, I highly recommend this sunscreen. It’s mineral-based but doesn’t leave your skin with that white cast that so many other sunscreens do. I also love the face stick version of this sunscreen.
Sandals | You can’t beat $6 sandals as beach shoes and they come in several pretty colors.
Beach Shelter | I mentioned above about the super hot beach day that we did not properly prepare for. After that beach trip, I immediately went home and ordered this shelter. It’s easy to set up and takedown, and most importantly we can all fit in it comfortably.
Beach Towels | I cannot believe what a great deal these towels are. Just $20 for a set of four beach towels is an excellent price. I love the cabana stripes – so classic for beach or pool.
