Military Spouse of The Year

Guys.

Something crazy happened. I was nominated for Military Spouse of the Year. It’s an honor, and it’s humbling, and it’s exciting, so naturally I have to share it with you!

What is Military Spouse of the Year® (MSOY)? 

It’s an award that recognizes military spouses’ important contributions and unwavering commitment to the military community and our country. It was founded by Military Spouse magazine in 2008 to honor military spouses of all ranks and from all branches of service. More than a million military spouses support and maintain the home front while our service members defend this great nation.

Can you believe that? More than a million military spouses in this great nation. I’m so proud to be one of them.

Matt’s been deployed three times in the last five years. It’s always so humbling to hear people tell me that I’m strong because to me, it’s just doing life. But I see why people see military spouses are brave. They really are. Being in this community simply makes me proud. Having the ability to call my friend and tell her about how I broke down in tears because I couldn’t figure out how to get our new air conditioner working because I couldn’t call my husband, keeps me together. Having the opportunity to celebrate milestones like being halfway through deployment with more than 50 other women who are going through the same exact thing, keeps me from feeling alone. And getting to see my husband for the first time after 6 or 7 or 8 long months brings me the most joy.

I know I’m not the only one proud of being part of this beautiful community, in fact there are many nominees for MSOY. That’s no surprise because military spouses are some of the most giving, resilient, and brave people I know.
