The one where I profess my love for painted furniture
It’s no secret that I love painted furniture. Just add spending hours on Pinterest looking at painted furniture ideas to my list of hobbies. To me, painted furniture + vintage classic pieces = perfection! I’m always on the hunt for perfect wood pieces. Very rarely do I find anything in my price range (ie. cheap or free) that doesn’t need a little work.
A few weeks ago Matt found this piece of vintage furniture. It’s a small dresser, that has been through a lot.
There’s no telling how many different drawer pulls they put on this bad boy but, we negotiated the price with the seller and that included him keeping the knobs that he had put on. Honestly, that was a relief!
Ever since I painted the wood and white two toned chest turned nightstand, I’ve been itching to do another two toned piece. I also wanted something neutral that could go in any room in our house. Since we are moving in a few months, I’m not sure what kind of furniture musical chairs we are going to have to pull off so having something neutral was important. And seriously, you can’t go wrong with white and gray!
After we used a tub (just about) of wood filler to fill the massive holes from the previous drawer pulls, we put on these pewter pulls and I pretty much love them.
I think it gives the perfect touch of modern to this vintage piece.
I’m so glad we were able to snag this piece and bust out a furniture makeover.
Remember when I painted these ones?
I’d love to know, what’s been your best CL furniture find?
Love the white! I am fan of painted furniture. My recent fine, a vintage Asian styled cabinet. I decided to paint Coral Reef color of 2015 SW. Check it out! I look forward to seeing more painted pieces, we should definitely share. 😉
ohhh coral!! It’s going to be amazing!
It looks awesome Chelsea! I’m sure you’ll have no trouble finding the perfect place for it in your new home!
We’ve already got the perfect place! Thanks so much Kristin 🙂
Oh my goodness, I am obsessed! This looks great, Chelsea!
Thank you so much!!
Love this! Can you share what brand and paint color you used specifically for this piece?
Hi Mimi, yes!! The white is Behr Ultra White, and the grey color is Behr Silver Bullet.
Goodness. That mint dresser is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES but this lovely white on gray has to be a close second. Great work!
Oh the minty beauty. Still love her so much too!!! xo
I love how coastal chic it’s turned out! For my home I prefer the natural state of wood. Which just means I can’t know the value of the blood sweat and tears that can oftentimes go into these beautiful pieces. And maybe it’s subconscious laziness telling me I like the wood look better. You’ve really amped up the appearance of all of your other pieces, too. My favorite find has to be my 1950’s Broyhill China cabinet. It was a hella good deal!
That hutch sounds amazing, Corinna! I do love good ol’ natural wood as well! For me the combo of wood and painted furniture is the sweet spot! Have a great week 🙂
Looks great! Hoping to do smth similar when I move to a new house next month.
Hugs,
Mila
You should!! I love it!
This is a gorgeous piece, Chelsea! I love it 🙂
Thanks Bre!! So happy with the way it turned out 🙂
Wow, that dresser looks so different! I love the color grey — it’s my favorite neutral to paint with.
I’m loving grey too! And it’s the perfect contrast with the white. So glad you like it! 🙂
Love the color combination! I always shy away from two toned pieces but this looks amazing! I might just have to try it!
Give it a shot Betsy – I was pleasantly surprised with this one! Thanks for stopping by!
So pretty, Chelsea!
So pretty!! I love the two toned look, and I really like how subtle this is! Perfect neutral for any room. I’m working on transforming a dresser right now too, keeping the top stained wood and the bottom painted white. So fun to see furniture transformations!
I would also like to know the brand and paint color you used!..
Hi Darla 🙂
The paint is Behr Ultra White (their basic white), and the gray is called Silver Bullet. Hope that helps!!
very nice! Were you able to use the leaf handles on something else, they are beautiful!
Hi Clair! No, I haven’t used the leaf handles yet. We did save them in the stash so they’ll be used again sometime!
I just listened to your Brilliant Business Moms podcast about building a tribe; thank you for all the great info! I stopped by your site to look around and couldn’t resist clicking on a blog post with a Friends reference as a title 🙂 I have zero experience painting furniture, but one of my goals this summer is to give it a shot. Thanks for the inspiration!
