Washi Tape Crafts: Covered Heart Boxes

Hi friends! All recovered from Super Bowl Sunday? I have to admit I didn’t watch the whole game (or very intently anyway). We are a baseball family. Come Spring time it will be all baseball all the time I’m sure! And about Spring, I’m happy to report that the ground hog didn’t see his shadow so yay for an early Spring! Until then we still have some fun things to look forward to. One of them being Valentine’s Day! I’ve been sharing lots of Valentine’s Day projects with you this these last few weeks. I just can’t get enough of all the “heart day” inspired projects!

Washi Tape Cover Heart Box: Making Home Base

A few weeks ago, Pick Your Plum was offering washi tape as one of their deals! I was dying to get my hands on some cute pink chevron washi tape but alas, I was too late! I did manage to snags some cute turquoise and white tape with pink hearts, and some pink and white striped tape. I’m seriously addicted to washi tape crafts! After my tape came in the mail, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it! I had picked up some little heart shaped cardboard boxes from Michaels about a month ago. They were the perfect canvas for some sweet Washi Tape Covered Heart Boxes.

I made a couple of these so the how to is going to be using a red and white variation.

The first thing I did was paint the outside of my cardboard boxes white. They were brown, but with the washi tape, it looks better and more clean to start with a white background.

Washi Tape Heart Box TutorialThis is very simple, Start piecing your tape onto the top of the box. You can do this in any pattern you’d like. For this one I just lined them up straight across.

Then you can take your scissors or exacto knife to trim the excess tape. After you’ve trimmed the excess, take the tape a place a piece around the edge of the lid. Then you do the same with the bottom part of the box. It took two pieces of the wider chevron tape to go around the bottom part of the box.

That’s all it takes! Tada! Now you have a sweet little box to put fun Valentine’s Day trinkets in!

I think it’s a great little box to put some Valentine’s goodies in. You can share them with a neighbor, friend, or teacher! I just love how fun and versatile washi tape is!

I also made a Paper Bag and Washi Tape Heart Bunting for Valentine’s Day that you can check out!
