My Home Office Reveal

The Home Depot provided me with product and compensation. The opinions I have shared about the products are my own.

Creating a dedicated home office has been on my list ever since we moved into our house. We determined that the best place to put the office was in the dining room, for two reasons. One, it didn’t make sense for us to have a formal dining room and two, it’s conveniently located in the house. It’s right off the kitchen and has french doors that open up to the living room. While distracting at times, having the ability to look out into the living room and see what the kids are up to is very convenient.

Before I show you the full reveal, here’s a quick trip down memory lane so you can see what our home office looked like before.

When we first moved in it was two-toned and the colors were questionable. There was old stained carpet that we had already pulled up before this photo was taken. After a few weeks, we had painted and added new flooring and a new light fixture – I moved into the office. I quickly learned that this set up wasn’t very functional.

And too often my office looked like this (shot from my real home tour last year).

After living in the space for about a year, I learned what worked and what didn’t so when it was time to really decorate it, I had a better idea of what was going to work in the long run.

Since Matt and I sometimes work in here together, I decided two smaller desks would work better than one larger one. This smaller waterfall edge desk is perfect a perfect fit and centers the room.

The other desk is along the wall and it houses the big computer and my sewing machine. I’m so happy to have some dedicated space for my sewing machine!

I also grabbed these Eames chairs for the office.

They are dining room chairs that can literally work in any space. I love the modern design and they are so comfy – perfect for a workspace.

Another important aspect to this the newly designed home office is this little sitting area. Working from home, I find myself taking my computer all around the house looking for a cozy spot. This is my favorite cozy spot! I love resting my feet on the ottoman and planning out blog posts or catching up on social media.

Often times, I’ll just come sit here when my desk is overflowing with papers. I still need to figure out a window treatment for this window but I’m taking my time waiting on the perfect solution.

You can see in corner, I have my printing station. The blue letter boxes are full of notecards and notebooks while the cubbies are all full of different type of paper for printing and other projects.

My fiddle leaf fig loves it in here and he is thriving! Two new leaves already – Mama’s finally got it right.

I’m basically in love with this room and when I’m not working in here, I’m hiding in that little chair in the corner. Okay, not all of the time but some of the time 😉
