Light and Bright Summer Living Room
Hey friends, I’m popping in from family vaca in Washington DC because it’s home tour day! I’m sharing my summer living room. I’m especially excited because quite a few things have changed in the last few months and this is the first peek at those changes.
I’m also excited because home tours are such a fun part of blogging. As a reader, it’s a great way to get summer decorating ideas. If you’ve ever wanted to take a peek around some of your favorite bloggers’ homes, today [this whole week actually] is your day! The lovely Marty from A Stroll Thru Life coordinates this tour for us each season and it’s wonderful to be a part of. If you are hopping over from Life Love Larsen, then you are probably going gaga over her Andrea’s gorgeous home. I just love her living room!
My approach to summer is pretty laid back and relaxed. Our home is typically pretty crazy these months. Neighbor kids running in out, wet swimsuits cluttering up towel hooks, and melty popsicles dripping everywhere. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I did manage to get a few moment to clean up a bit and I thought I would share with you my light and bright living space for summer.

A couple weeks ago we took a trip to Pensacola Beach and I snapped that picture hanging on the wall. I had it printed and framed at Framebridge with the idea in mind to hang it here. So happy with the way it turned out.
Rug | Ottomans | Throw Blanket | Mudcloth Pillows
Our living room is definitely the heart of our home. Typically this space is full of puzzles and baby dolls and I love it that way.
I love changing out my pillow covers every few months. These have a beachy vibe that I’m not sure I’ll be able to shake. They might stick around forever.
Matt and I built this console table a few months back to replace another that wasn’t really working in this space anymore. I love the way it turned out. Above it hangs my Brynn Casey print that I’m completely obsessed with.
The bamboo coffee table is new. I found it on Craigslist a few months ago and I toyed with the idea of painting it but for now, I think the natural color is working.
There you have it – that’s my summer living room tour. The next stop on the Summer Tour of Homes is Laura from Inspiration for Moms. Don’t miss her gorgeous porch it’s a favorite!

Love you living room, the colors are so pretty and you do have the neatest selection no pillows. Great new bamboo table too. Thanks so much for joining the tour.
Your living room looks great, Chelsea! So crisp and clean and inviting! It’s a cool drink of water on a hot summer day. Thanks for sharing it with us!
It looks great–so many fresh, coastal touches! I’m glad to be on the tour with you; it’s always fun to meet a fellow mil spouse!
So beautiful Chelsea! Love your new beach artwork and those pillows are perfection!!
Beautiful, Chelsea! I especially like the mix you’ve created with the wood tones. That is a terrific coffee table! Easily moved aside for impromptu dance parties with the kids = )
Thank you, MaryEllen!
Can you please tell me where you purchased the upholstered bench seats? They’re so pretty and exactly what I’m looking for, for added seating in my living room…
Never mind…just saw the link! But there are mixed reviews ~ can you comment on them?
glad you found them! I love them 🙂
Hello – I love the white slipcover on the couch. Where did you get it? Thank you!
Hi Shelley, it’s an IKEA Ektorp sofa and slipcover!
Is the rug the blue or grey? There are multiple color options on the link. This space is gorgeous!
Thanks,
Susan
Hi Susan, it’s gray.
