Hi, friends. The next room on my project list is my master bedroom. It’s challenging because it’s always been half done. Do you have rooms like that? Just decorated enough to get by but really unfinished. I’m ready to finally complete the space.

Florida House-23

When we first got the house it looked like this – gold and crimson walls, guys.

Master Bedroom Bedding Refresh-5

We painted the walls Gravelstone by Behr which brought a more calm tone to the space. Now, I want to finish the space out.

Here’s the plan I’m going with – I’m hoping for a calm and serene space with different shades of blue. I’m finally getting some drapery up on the huge windows we have which I think will make a dramatic difference. I selected a vintage inspired rug with tones of blue and gray because I think it will be a nice contrast with the white bedding and taupe headboard.

I have a plan in mind to create some sort of accent/feature wall behind the bed. I can’t wait to share what I’m thinking with that.

I talked last week about round mirrors, I ordered this one from Target for above the headboard and it will be perfect. I’m building some nightstands similar to these Pottery Barn Sausalito ones (thanks to my friend Jen at The House of Wood) – I love this shade of wood since it has a nice coastal feel, I hope I can achieve that same look with the pieces I’m building.

I selected a few art pieces from Minted. These are really pretty and support the calm and serene mood I’m looking for.

So there you have it – the master bedroom plan. The makeover is already underway as items have been arriving on my doorstep all week – online shopping is the bees knees when you have two kids.

“Just decorated enough to get by but really unfinished.” Well said. We moved in our new apartment 2 weeks ago. Though I have already decorated our master bedroom, but still looking for something to make it more relaxing. I am thinking to put a rug in our room. Thanks for sharing these ideas.

I’ve just moved to my new apartment and I’m looking for a way to decorating my new bedroom. Now I’ve found the way after reading your helpful article. Your round mirror looks really lovely, and I guess I will take the same one for my room. Thank you for sharing!
