My Favorite Workout Wear
Looking in my closet I realized that the majority of the clothes I wear are athletic clothing. So much so that when I’m wearing what my kids call “real clothes” before 10 am my kids are wondering where I’m going! I have accumulated a lot of workout wear but it’s not all created equal. I’m sharing my top favorite workout pieces. These are the items that I always find myself pulling first.
Around the beginning of the pandemic, I started exercising regularly. Over the years I’ve worked out here and there but never really made a true habit out of it. I made a commitment to myself to get stronger, not to lose weight or change the look of my body, I just really and truly wanted to feel stronger. 18 months later I’m still exercising pretty regularly. I’m made a mental shift from dreading working out to dreading the days that I can’t exercise because those endorphins are real. Last November I started riding a spin bike with the Peloton app and really fell in love with that. I really fell hard for the Peloton culture so I went and bought a Peloton and today, my Peloton is being delivered (!!!) so I thought it would be the perfect day to share my favorite athletic wear.
My Favorite Headbands | I now have a half dozen of these headbands. They’re sweat-wicking, they stay in place, and they come in a bunch of colors and a few patterns. I always wear a headband during my workout but I also wear them all the time when I just want to hide my frizzy curls and don’t have time to properly do my hair.
Adidas Hat | I love this hat – it comes in a bunch of colors. I wear it mostly when I’m walking outside either for a long walk or just to the bus stop. It keeps the sun off my face and at this point in my life I’m all about that.
Athleta Mesh Racer 4″ Running Shorts | My favorite ever running shorts. The 4″ length is perfect for me. Not too short that you’re showing all your bits but also not so long that they swallow you up. They fit TTS, I wear a medium in these. I mostly wear these shorts for strength workouts, walking, and everyday wear. They have a built-in liner that’s comfortable and doesn’t ride up whatsoever. They come in a couple of colors and they change seasonally. I have them in lilac and coral.
Bombas Ankles Socks | Listen, if you haven’t purchased a pair of these socks yet, what are you waiting for? Matt just bought me four more pairs so I never have the bummer of going to my sock basket and finding my beloved socks are in the wash. They are thick and cozy but they don’t make your feet hot. They are just the best socks.
Zella Seamless Strappy Sports Bra | This is my second favorite bra, you’ll see my top favorite in just a minute. I love this bra because it’s really affordable, it’s comfortable, and supportive but not super constricting. It’s also just cute – I love the strappy back, especially with a tank top. I wear this sports bra for all the activities. It comes in tons of colors which is great too!
Athleta Conscious Crop Sports Bra | This is the best sports bra. I think it’s even marketed as a cropped tank because of the long line, that’s my favorite thing about it. It’s supportive, the crop hits at just the right spot and it looks incredible with high-waisted leggings (next on the list). I have two of these bras and I always pull them first, they are my absolute favorite.
Athleta Salutation Stash Pocket II 7/8 Tight | There are many things to love about these leggings and I’ll tell you what, there’s a reason I only have one pair of leggings on this list and it’s because these are it. These are the ones. I love the high rise, the 7/8 crop (I’m only 5’3 so I love a 7/8 length legging), side pockets big enough for a phone, buttery soft, and they come in tons of colors. These leggings are on the high end of the budget but they last. Compared to other leggings I have, even other high-end brands, these are the best quality and best fit for me. These babies are always on the top of my list.
Old Navy High-Waisted PowerSoft Side-Pocket Biker Shorts | I ride my spin bike about five days a week so in the summer I’m always pulling these bike shorts. These remind me of the leggings I love just in the form of shorts and way cheaper. They are high rise, hit just above my knee, and have nice side pockets large enough to fit a phone. They come in some really fun colors and patterns too.
Old Navy UltraLite All-Day Performance Crop Tank | I have a few tanks that are pricier and you would think that they would be higher on my list but these really inexpensive, lightweight, cropped tanks are my very favorite. I love a cropped tank, especially with high-waisted shorts or leggings. I always pull these tanks first. They are so affordable you can’t not take a chance on them.
Adidas Ultraboost Sneakers | I’m on my third pair of Ultraboosts. These shoes fit my feet like a glove. Nikes never fit me properly because they are all too narrow for my feet. These Adidas fit perfectly. They are super lightweight and you feel like you’re walking on a cloud. These sneakers can be pricey but typically one or two colors will be on sale so I usually just pick one of the sale colors and honestly, I’d pay full price if I had to because I love them that much.
Old Navy Dolphin-Hem Run Shorts for Women – 3-inch inseam | These shorts are my second favorite. Typically, I go for comfort and fit with my workout clothes. The thing I love most about these is that they come in so many fun colors and patterns. Who doesn’t want to have a few pairs of fun pieces in their workout wear? They still fit great but it is a very different fit than my favorite 4″ Athleta shorts. These shorts have a mid-rise and are a little shorter but they still have plenty of coverage. They go great with the cropped tanks and you can make a super cute workout outfit for less than $30.
These are my favorite pieces. I really love athletic clothing just as much as I love my “regular clothes.” Do you have any pieces that you are crazy about that I haven’t mentioned here? I’d love to try them!
