Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Dressing Room Try on Sesh

Hey friends, happy Friday! It’s been a wild week for us. We celebrated my birthday on Tuesday and then the Nordstrom sale began yesterday! I always consider the sale Nordstrom’s gift to me because it’s always so good. I shared many of my favorites including all the home decor items I’m eyeing in yesterday’s post but I wanted to give you guys a chance to see what I tried on in the store. One thing I’ve heard so often since I’ve started sharing fashion here on the blog is that you love seeing clothes on different size women so I’ve stretched out of my comfort zone to be the best resource for you and I’m sharing some wins and some misses from the Nordstrom dressing room!

For reference, I’m about 5’3 and usually wear a S/M in tops and a 6-8 in bottoms. I’m a little on busty side and I have hips… and I’ve definitely been eating way too much birthday cake this week 😉

In the next few days, I’ll share styled photos of these items so you can see how versatile each piece is but for today, here are the pieces I grabbed in the store with fit details for each!

Sweater | Jeans | Necklace

Textured Knit Sweater – wearing a small, TTS – could have done a medium for a more relaxed fit.
This sweater was one of the first things I grabbed. Would be really cute worn off the shoulder with a bralette or layered with a cami underneath. It’s super comfy and I love the textured knit. The sweater is only $26 and comes in several colors. I loved it in this pink/gray color as well as the charcoal.

The Dreamers Sweater wearing size small, TTS.
This sweater is already sold out in some sizes and hopefully will restock soon but it’s worth mentioning because it’s such a great fall staple at a low price point. The sale price is just under $30. I love the longer length of this sweater making it great to wear with leggings and boots. It’s crazy soft and comfy. I’m ordering it the rust orange color as well.

Twist Front Knit Sweater – wearing a small, TTS
I loved this sweater on the hanger I had to try on both colors. I love the twist front and the slouchy arms. I think this would work better for someone with a longer torso – it looks a little bulky on me. I would pair this with some high waisted jeans and booties.

Navy Blazer |

Navy Knit Blazer – wearing a XS, size down
Super soft casual blazer under $40, comes in multiple colors. Love it for layering The navy is my favorite of course!

Black Skinny Jeans
This is one of my favorite brands of denim. This is my second pair of these jeans. This mid-rise pair has a wide elastic band around the waist that keeps them in place so you don’t have to constantly be hiking them up. Black denim is a must-have closet item for fall/winter. This pair is only $45.

Slouchy Henley Top | Jeans

Slouchy Henley Top – it’s oversized and fits TTS, wearing a small – you could size down for a more fitted look.
This top is great for layering (see above with the knit blazer). It comes in multiple colors/patterns. I love this light blue with windowpane print. I’m also digging the coral/pink and I think the black would be a great staple to have in your closet to dress up with faux leather leggings and boots or down with shorts now and jeans later.

Lightly Distressed Jeans – fit is TTS, wearing a 28 here.
These jeans were an absolute yes. The minute I put them on I fell in love. They under $60, super soft, and I love the distressing. One thing to note, these are ankle jeans which make them the perfect length for me. If you’re taller, expect them to be shorter in length.

Blouse | Jeans

Printed Top – Wearing an 8 here (I’m busty) so fits TTS.
This printed pleated top has to be probably my favorite of the day. I love the pleated front and the high ruffled collar. This top is longer in the back so you could do a front tuck and then still cover the bum. You could also leave a few buttons open with a cami underneath for a layered look. Super cute option for date nights or even for work with a skirt and boots. This top is under $40.

Jeans – Wearing a 28 here, fits TTS.
These jeans were my premium denim buy – still pricey but were $75 off. (I like to buy one pair of premium denim during the anniversary sale). I got a pair of jeans from this brand last year and they ended up being my most favorite pair all year long. This pair is very similar to last year’s. I love the raw hem and the distressed knee.

The Madewell Top – fits small, size up one or two sizes. Wearing a L here.
Love love love this top. It’s a thicker textured cropped blouse with a tie back detail (my favorite part). I wanted a looser fit so went with a L. It’s just $33 and comes in a coral and a navy. I love the navy!

Striped Top – fits TTS, wearing a small here.
I fully expected to hate this top on but it’s so good you guys and comes in under $40! The material is like butter. It’s thicker but not quite a sweater. It has a cropped silhouette but hits perfectly at the natural waist. I especially love the thick, striped neckline. This is cute with jeans but would be darling with a skirt. There’s also a black and white striped print that is fab.

Embroidered Top
I’m a sucker for an embroidered top and this one is really flattering. It’s really lightweight and feminine. It’s slightly pricey at $45 but could be really versatile this fall with a cardigan.

Date night dress – fits TTS, wearing a small
This is like an elevated shift dress. It comes in just a bit at the waist giving it a bit more shape than a typical shift dress. This one is navy blue with black detail on the neck and pockets. It also comes in white but the white was see-thru and would need a slip. This will be my go to date night dress for sure.

Tank Top | Ankle Pants

Tank Top – wearing a small, fits TTS
Grab this tank in every color because it’s a great layering tank under $12. It comes in four colors. I love this color one.

Ankle Pants – wearing a small, fits TTS
I loved this pants but ultimately passed on them. The drawstring waist is really comfy and the wide ankle hem is a really polished detail. You’d have to pair them with something more fitted on top or maybe add a front knot to your tee or tank for a more flattering outfit but overall, if you are slightly taller, these pants would be darling!

Sweater | Utility Pants

Utility Pants – Fits TTS, wearing a 28 Petite here.
These pants were a happy surprise for me. I didn’t expect to love them as much as I did. The cranberry color is just right. This will so great with any neutral color on top. A tee with a front tuck and a comfy cardigan over top. Perfect fall outfit.

Wrapping up the try on session with some shoes! I grabbed these three on my way out so I didn’t get to try them on in the store but I’m loving them!

Studded Mules | Blush Open Toe Mules | Tan Booties

Phew! That was a lot – if you got through all of it, you’re a trooper! I’d love to hear what some of your wins/misses have been or maybe what you are planning to buy. Let me know in the comments. Also, if you have any questions about fit, size, or styling, let me know – I’m so happy to help you!

  1. Maybe it’s because I don’t see you in coral that often, but I can’t stop swooning over you in that coral sweater. That color looks SO GOOD on you friend!
