Painted Chargers

In our new house we’ve got a big screened in porch. I was so excited about I practically squealed out loud. Even though it’s hot hot hot here in Florida, having a screened in porch means outdoor dining.
When I was thinking about all of the fun I’d have getting the screened in porch ready for summer, I thought about how I needed some cute place settings to with it.
It was kind of like that book, “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie.” (It and all other versions are P’s very favorites)
If you give Chelsea a screened in porch, she’ll want to have outdoor meals.
If you eat outside you need beautiful place settings…
You get the idea.
I started by making some painted chargers.
I grabbed these plain white chargers from Michaels. They were 50% off so they were about $1.50 each I think. Great deal.
Using a little Frog Tape®, I tape some stripes. Don’t tell anyone but I totally didn’t measure. I just eyeballed about even stripes. If you are uneasy about that – measure!
Next step, paint! I used DecoArt® Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint in Smitten. It’s the perfect color in between coral and beach. Perfect for a beach/summery look. Using a foam brush I painted on two coats of the Chalky Finish paint, allowing for dry time in between coats.
I love the color mixed with bold blues – perfect for summer, I think.
I can’t wait to use these painted chargers all summer long… in my screened in porch 🙂
