The Best Decorative Baskets for Storage

The number one organizational item in our home is baskets. Baskets are the true MVP around here. They camouflage our day to day mess by safely stowing away our everyday things. We’ve got baskets throughout our home as organizational tools but they are as functional as they are pretty. I prefer using natural fiber baskets that aren’t see-through so I can actually hide our messes. Since it’s January and we’re all in the mood for organizing I wanted to share some of the best decorative baskets for storage. Many of the baskets shared below are currently on sale so if getting organized is a goal for 2020, let’s start now.

Let’s talk about ways to utilize these baskets for storage and decor. One of my most trafficked posts is this one where I shared how we stored toys in our living room in a previous home.

When Peighton was small, we had a two story home so I kept a small number of toys downstairs and created a small toy storage area for her in our living room. This eight cube cubby was a lifesaver and we kept it for years moving it to different parts of our house as needed. I used two large milk crate baskets to hold loose toys and stacked puzzles and books. I’m snagging a few of these for the girls’ room and playroom which I’m hoping to share in the coming weeks.

Little kids have so many little things. I love baskets for organizing their things from toys to accessories. When we renovated the girls’ closet in our old house we used baskets on the shelving to organize the girls’ hair accessories, cold weather accessories, hats, etc. Although we no longer have this beautiful closet, we do still use these baskets to help organize the girls’ closet.

Here’s a snap of our bedroom. You can see a basket on the bedside table containing extra blankets. I always have a basket of extra blankets in my room and in the living room. It’s a pretty way to store the dozens of blankets we have floating around our house.

I’m sure there are many ways you’d like to incorporate these decorative storage baskets in your own home. You can click the image of any of these baskets to be taken to the retailers. Like I mentioned, many are on sale right now!

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE a good basket! It’s the first thing I shop for on trips, because I know I can make it work in my home without “vacation regrets” on a touristy purchase I’ll regret down the line. You have such a great eye for style – I love every single one of your picks!
