Of course these are just averages and its best to use trial and error to find what works best for your unique situation.
What we did prior to starting out TV hanging project is we used cardboard roughly the same size as the TV and sat on the sofa to simulate the view. This allowed us to make easy adjustments prior to making holes in the wall.
