DIY xo Wreath [Valentine’s Day Decor]

Hey guys! Are you getting ready for Valentine’s Day at all? If so, today is the day for YOU. My blog friends and I have been working on some pretty awesome Valentine’s Day projects to share! They are so “sweet” your heart is going to burst! (a little V-Day lingo for you.)

Here’s my DIY XO Wreath with pom poms

valentine's day wreathLast year I went very traditional with my sweet red and white Valentine’s Day Wreath. This year, I wanted something different. No red or pinks… just GOLD. ahhh…. gold, well and white. It’s probably pretty evident how much I’m loving the gold and white combo lately. Last week I shared how I personalized my Gold Heart “Couples Art”. Today, I’ve got more gold and white. I’ve been wanting to do a project with pom poms for a few months now. I had something in mind during the holidays but got caught up in other things and never got around to it. So for Valentine’s Day it was a no brainer. Time to bust out the pom poms 🙂

This is a quick project that you can do in an hour or less.

For this DIY XO Wreath you’ll need: cardboard (or any sturdy material), stencil, scissors or exacto knife, paint, hot glue gun, pom poms.

First, I created a quick stencil with my Silhouette Cameo. If you feel comfortable you can also free hand your letters. You can also just print a large “x” and “o” from a Word document and use that as a stencil. Trace your stencil onto the cardboard, then cut out your letters.

Next, if your material is not already white, paint your letters white.xo wreath tutorialThe next step is to begin hot gluing the pom poms to the cardboard letters. My strategy was to get them as close together as possible and to cover up all the visible cardboard. Continue to hot glue pom poms until the entire letter is covered.xo valentines day hanging

Then I grabbed some gold ribbon and cut a piece about 24 inches long. I adhered the letters to the ribbon with hot glue. I also hot glued a bow to the top. That’s all! xo valentine's day wreath

This would look so cute hanging on a door inside or outside your home. It’s the perfect wreath for my oversized chalkboard.
