Mint Painted Nightstand
I’ve had a little love affair with the color mint green for awhile now. I’ve been wanting some mint decor somewhere in our home. I finally took the plunge and decided to use the color in my bedroom, creating the mint painted nightstand.
If you’ve been around here awhile you know that our master bedroom has been on my to do list since the beginning of the year when I listed my “home goals.” Well it’s finally getting some attention. The initial color scheme has completely evolved but I am really excited about it.
Say Hello! To the mint painted nightstand.
I also have a love affair with painting furniture. One of my favorite things is finding pieces and making them work for our home. That’s a necessity when you live in military housing 🙂 You are forced to think outside the box and perhaps use a piece for something other than it’s intended use. That’s what we did with this piece. We turned a little dresser into the perfect nightstand for our master bedroom!
This piece was in crazy poor shape. It was a craigslist find that had a great story behind it. The owner had it in her family for as long as she can remember at least 70 years. It’s top and drawers were badly damaged and it has been sitting in her garage for years. Since she didn’t have energy to repair or refinish it she decided to let it go. We were thrilled to welcome it to our family! My husband put a lot of work into it. He had to repair all of the drawers and the top and give it a good sanding before it was ready for paint.
Painting furniture is one of the best ways to bring color into a room, especially for those of us with the ugly eggshell white walls! This mint painted nightstand brings so much color into our room. The color I chose is a perfect shade of mint green. It’s Lowe’s Olympic Sweet Pea.
We left the original hardware on it. I love the vintage key holes too. Do those glass cabinet doors look familiar? I used them a few months ago in my Valentine’s Day Vignette. They are perfect in their new space on the nightstand. This dresser makes the best bedside table for our master bedroom. The wall that our bed sits against is long so this piece is the perfect size.
Ah, the mint. it’s so lovely. I am so excited that this space is starting to come together. I can’t wait to show you what we are working on next! What do you think?

I’ve been searching for a color to paint an old garage sale chest of drawers. I love this one, thanks for telling the exact paint, I’m going to Lowes today!
Looks beautiful! What was your total cost for this project? Thanks!
Wow Chelsea! Love this and now getting a stroke of inspiration for an old end table we have. Use to do stuff like this a lot but not recently. Might have to just change that and make a trip to Lowe’s! So glad I came across your blog too. ❤

Saw this on Pinterest and had to pop over and tell you how beautiful it is. I love I everything about it, from the color, to the shape, to the lovely legs, and the fact that you’re using it as a nightstand. I have a formerly ugly wooden console table that I painted turquoise and use as my nightstand. Like you said, it fills the space so much better. (And I can fit more stuff on top of it!) Looking forward to poking around your blog for a while.
Pretty that color looks really great on the night stand. I painted my bedroom a color very similar when I was in high school and the thought of that minty green color kind of makes me cringe, but seeing it like this makes me think I should be more open minded.
Beautiful !! You did a wonderful job with the table. Love the color against the wall !
Best,
marlin
Love the mint green you chose for the dresser. It looks like it was meant to be.
Thanks for the inspiration,

This is my first time stopping by…I clicked on your comment you left over at “may richer fuller be” and I was completely drawn to this post. I am swooooooooning over this piece! We have 3 pieces in the house that are completely old and “slow” in the drawer pulling division, and we keep talking about ousting them for Ikea pieces…but I am rethinking some things after seeing this post. It is just gorgeous…and yes, that color is stabbing me in the heart!!!! 🙂 I also want to point you to a great new book that’s out called FURNITURE MAKEOVERS by BARB BLAIR. It is just amazing to see her process of redoing found pieces. Seeing this post reminded me of that book. Happy to stop by! Keep creating! 🙂
Omg, that nightstand matches my dresser exactly!! Do you happen to know what this style is called? I would LOVE to find more pieces :).
I love I everything about it, from the color, to the shape, to the lovely legs, and the fact that you’re using it as a nightstand. I have a formerly ugly wooden console table that I painted turquoise and use as my nightstand.
Beautiful, and so creative.
It’s in point of fact a nice and helpful piece of info.
I am happy that you simply shared this useful info with us.
Please stay us informed like this. Thanks for sharing.

I’m thrilled to have found your site!! That dresser and color is fantastic!! Must.paint.something.NOW! 😉
I was inspired by your post and picked up a color swatch from Lowe’s. It looks so different on the sample card: both darker/deeper shade and a brighter hue than the images here. Did you run yours at a reduced percentage? Or is this 100%?
Hmm… I do notice that the colors on the card vary a bit from what comes out in the paint – I wonder if it looks lighter because it’s on furniture? It was a 100% – I just grabbed a paint sample pot.
What is the finish on the paint, is it a satin, semi-gloss, etc?
Hi! Your nightstand came out beautiful! This may be a long shot but are you able to share the name of the mint green color? Thanks!
It’s called Sweet Pea from the Olympic line at Lowes. Hope that helps!
My, my.,.I would have NEVER made that choice! But, it’s beautiful…and that blue Media Center!!! Stunning…you have a talent my dear…
