Striped Accent Wall Without Paint

My dining room has been a work in progress. A few weeks ago we finished our rustic shelves and over the weekend we completed our striped accent wall. The best part?

I was able to get these awesome charcoal grey stripes without paint with the help of Walls Need Love!

You all know we live in base housing so I am always looking for temporary but bold options in home decor. After rounding up temporary wall treatments, I was inspired to try something new. A vinyl striped accent wall. Vinyl stripes couldn’t be more perfect for us! While I’m not opposed to painting our rental (and have plans to paint really soon!), this striped accent wall without paint is something we can simply peel off when we move instead of having to paint it back.

This is what we started out this. Boring Blank White Eggshell Wall. To make vertical stripes, Walls Need Love sent a big ol’ roll of 8′ vinyl in charcoal grey. Which, by the way, WNL has a great selection of colors it was really hard to choose one!

We ended up making 5 vertical stripes 14 inches apart. After measuring the height of the wall, I cut the vinyl stripes  to size. Placing them on the wall was easy-peasy with a laser level. With my husband’s help, I started at the top and stuck the vinyl to wall squeegeeing (is that a word?) out the air bubbles using the handy squeegee WNL provided.
