Spring Try On Session

I had a couple hours to spare this week and needed some shorts for this 80-degree weather we’ve been granted here in Florida. In an effort to be useful to you all, I snapped some pictures, in horrible lighting, of each outfit – some worked, some didn’t, but they’re all here! For reference, I’m 5’2 and typically wear a 6-8 or a small in tops and medium in bottoms. I’m linking to everything you see here, just tap the image of the item and you’ll be taken to the source. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Dress – Wearing a Medium

I loved this dress on the hanger. I was a little concerned about where it might hit lengthwise because of the ruffle, I was afraid it might accentuate my hips too much. It fits like a shift dress and I actually think the fit and length work. I love the darling eyelet ruffle detail.

Moving on to tops

Wearing a medium in this baseball tee. It is a great basic and so soft. It’s a thin material and a tad be sheer, I would grab a cami to wear underneath. It’s a bit long so I would do a knot or a front tuck like I did here. I would be super cute to run around in this summer with shorts and some slides or sneakers.

Such a cute oxford shirt that comes in a couple of colors. I’m wearing a medium here. This oxford is the top I wanted to work the most but just didn’t for me. I love the lightweight material and the hidden buttons but the sizing wasn’t right for me. It would work perfectly for a more slender build. It pulled too much in the back but fit perfectly in the arms. I think it is darling with shorts like these utility ones, but it’s so versatile that you could wear it tied up with a skirt, or with white jeans.

How cute is this soft sweatshirt peplum? Wearing a small here so you can see that it’s oversized so I would size down for a more fitted look. The material is like a very light sweatshirt so it wouldn’t overheat you, perfect for the spring months. It comes in a bunch of colors like navy and even a soft yellow which is perfect for spring.

The sweetest embroidered top that jumped into my arms the moment I saw it. I’m wearing a small here. It is a splurge but the details and it’s on sale right now (!!!). It would be a great top for a day date with girlfriends. I love the embroidery on the yoke and the sleeve detail. It’s a little longer for me so I would wear it longer shorts or cropped skinnies. The fit is so flattering, I love this sweet top so much!

I love this sweet blue and white striped off the shoulder top. It’s super feminine and the eyelet detail is darling. I grabbed a medium but could have done a small. It’s hard to tell here but there is a slight bell opening around the wrist. If you’ve got any warm weather vacations coming up you need this in your bag! You can dress it down with a pair of distressed shorts or dress it up with white jeans and wedges.

Another perfect spring/summer top – this peplum tank. It has embroidered detail and I love the way it is more fitted around the bust and then gathered/flares at the bottom. I’m wearing a medium so I would say it’s true to size. Both sleeves tie and shoulders which is another sweet detail. It comes in these two colors but also in white. I ended up taking home the golden yellow because I love the way it looked with the denim and white!

Saving the best top for last, gals. I kid you not when I say, this top is everything. Only $29, it should be in all of our closets because it’s so versatile and so flattering! I feel so confident in this top and it goes with pretty much everything – trust me! I’m wearing a small here and it’s the perfect fit. I love the fuschia color because it goes with anything. Dress it down with shorts and slides or dress it up with white jeans and wedges or even black pants and pumps. I can’t say enough good things about this top I love it so much! If fuschia isn’t your color, it comes in a couple other colors and even a striped and floral.

Now onto shorts

After struggling to find shorts that I loved (all of which are mom approved), I found four pairs that I don’t just love but feel comfortable and confident in!

  1. Dark wash denim cut offs ($45) – These were a tiny bit shorter than I would normally go with but for some reason, these unicorn shorts are so flattering. They are  They make your legs look long and slender. They aren’t tight around the leg at all. The denim is very stretchy and soft. The only con about these shorts is that you can’t roll down the cuff for extra length, but like I said I’m okay with that because they are so flattering. I’m wearing a 28 here.
  2. Navy Utility Shorts ($45) – These comfy cotton shorts the perfect shorts for running around chasing the girls. They have plenty of length but they aren’t frumpy looking. They also come in four different colors, I love the olive color as well. I’m wearing a size 8.
  3. The scalloped shorts ($39) – I considered my shopping day a sucess because of this shorts alone. They are so beautiful. The material is thin and lightweight but still offers coverage. I love the contrasting scalloped hem and the tie sash. There’s a zippered closure on the back.  I’m wearing a large here and I love the roomy fit it provides. I mean how cute are these shorts?
  4. The distressed cut offs ($68) – I loved these shorts. I was initially attracted to the overly distressed look. This particular pair ended up being a little short for my taste so instead I tried on another pair that was the same brand and style just less distressed and they were a better fit. I do think it may have been those individual pair because I tried the other pair in the exact same size and those seemed to give me a tiny bit more length which is just what I needed. I linked both pairs above for reference.

Phew! That was a lot. I hope this was a helpful resource for you! If you like this type of post will you please let me know by leaving a comment? Happy Friday!
