Pineapple Printable in the Entryway

Pineapples are a symbol of hospitality that are quite prevalent in the south. If you’ve visited a prominent southern city like Charleston or Savannah then you may have noticed pineapples adorning door knockers or fence posts. It turns out there’s a very good reason as to why there are so many pineapples adorning historic southern homes. The pineapple was a symbol of affluence and hospitality in the colonial days. Pineapples were expensive and elusive in America. Having a pineapple for your guests was such an honor because it conveyed that you would spare no expense for your beloved guests. That’s how pineapples became known as a symbol of hospitality. Today, pineapples do not have the same symbolism however, I still enjoy seeing beautiful historic homes with pineapple adornments.

As I’m jazzing my entryway up a little bit for spring/summer, I thought it would be fun to add a pineapple as a welcoming invitation for guests. This printable version isn’t quite as grand a gesture as an actual pineapple in the 1700 or even a pineapple embellishment but it is fun and it was completely free.

I’m excited to be joining in with my friend, Kristen from Ella Claire Inspired and other bloggers to share home decor printables that you can use every day in your home! We do a lot of seasonal prints but this hop is really fun because all of the printables featured are ones that can be used all year round.
