I’ve been inspired by coastal design for some time, and I enjoy incorporating those light and airy vibes into my home. While we’re moving again, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I’ll make the next house as home-y as the last. It can be difficult to create a modern coastal space that doesn’t appear nautical or cheesy. I found so many great coastal decor pieces at Walmart. I have to share!

Coastal Living Room Decor Ideas

I first found this gorgeous beach print (more on coastal artwork options below) and it was the inspiration for this whole design. I love the striped border on the rug and the throw blanket that mimics the stripes on the rug.

As for the furniture, I found some really cool pieces like this pair of chairs. I love the cane sides paired with the neutral fabric. Additionally, the marble top side table caught my eye. I thought it was a very versatile piece. It could work in a living space like above or even in a little reading nook, or as a guest bedroom side table.

It’s no secret that throw pillows are my favorite decorating accent and I found some beautiful ones at Walmart. The mix of throw pillows shown above are all from Walmart. The block print floral pillow comes in multiple sizes and colors. I think the other two neutral pillows (the striped khaki and the ivory textured) are great for any space but they work exceptionally well in a coastal decorated space.

Some decorating accents that are classic modern coastal design include rattan lanterns like the paint dipped ones shown above. Also, woven baskets are a must. This set of nesting baskets are perfect and a great price! I also have to mention this lamp. I love the color and texture!

Coastal Living Room Rug Ideas

Adding rugs to a living space give a space texture and dimension. I always, always use a living room rug when decorating my rental! For a coastal design, materials like jute or other woven fibers are perfect. They provide a natural element to the room, one that is much needed when designing a coastal inspired space.

I also wanted to include this washable rug because there is something to be said for washable rugs in family spaces! This one is beautiful and would look great in a coastal casual living room. If you have little ones, this is a great option.
