Always sample the paint color first as paint colors can look different in different rooms and with different lighting. Make sure to look at the paint color at different times over the course of a day to get the best idea of how the color will look in your space.
How Light is Sherwin Williams Natural Choice?
In terms of lightness, Natural Choice is a light paint color that reflects a good amount of light. It is not a true bright white but it does fall into the white/off-white category.
What is the LRV of Natural Choice?
The Light Reflective Value or LRV of Natural Choice is 73.
LRV is a good tool to use to determine how light (100 being the whitest white) or dark (0 being pitch black) a paint color is. The operative word here is light. Light Reflective Value means how much light is reflected. The lighter the color the more light can be reflected.
With a LRV of 73, Natural Choice clearly isn’t the whitest white (100) but it is reflective enough to be considered a light paint color in the white/off-white variety.
What are the undertones of Natural Choice?
A quick word about undertones, undertones are a perspective. You may determine the undertones to be slightly different.
The undertones of Sherwin Williams Natural Choice are yellow and orange. The yellow and orange undertones in this color are what make it the warm beige-y white paint color, I love. These undertones make it so it’s just warm enough that you won’t have to be concerned about this color ever feeling cool in a space. That kind of coziness is really helpful in spaces that get north-facing light that tends to be cooler.
Is Natural Choice a Cool or Warm Paint Color?
There’s no doubt that Natural Choice is a warm, beautiful paint color. The yellow and orange undertones give it a warm feel no matter the lighting situation. If you’re looking for cool white paint colors, I would recommend looking at other options like Sherwin Williams Chantilly Lace.
Natural Choice is a beautiful creamy white with just enough warmth to make it feel cozy without going too far into the beige or tan category. The light reflectance value makes it a great option if you’re looking for a warm white paint color.
What Paint Sheen Should I Use?
Paint sheen is a factor in both the look and performance of the paint. The gloss, or lack thereof, of paint, is what most people think about when determining sheen. A mirror-like paint sheen has a high gloss; light bounces off it. A flat or matte paint sheen has little or no gloss; it absorbs light. High gloss and semi-gloss paint are easier to clean while eggshell and flat paint attract more dirt and scuff easily.
I always recommend an eggshell finish in living spaces. It’s slightly more durable than flat paint but still absorbs enough light for the paint to not look shiny.

Natural Choice is a versatile color that can be used in a variety of spaces. Whether your style is traditional, coastal, or transitional, Natural Choice is great a neutral color with warmer tones. It is the perfect white if you are looking for a color that has a very cozy feel in living spaces.
