How to Decorate For Spring in 3 Easy Steps
Hey friends!
Of all the seasons to decorate your home, spring might be my favorite. While I love decorating my Christmas tree, there is just something about the soft colors of spring, the natural elements, and the beautiful blooms. Today, I’m teaming up with some remarkably talented bloggers to share some of our spaces styled up for spring. My sweet friend, Rachel from Shades of Blue Interiors, organized this tour in a special way. This tour isn’t just showing pretty pictures of our homes. We’re each sharing a small DIY tutorial or some spring decorating tips to make your home warm and inviting this season.
This post is sponsored by Home Goods. All favorable opinions of super cute spring decor is 100% mine.
If you are new to Making Home Base, welcome! I’m Chelsea, I’m a military spouse so we move A LOT but we’ve lived here in north Florida for just about two years. When I’m not chasing my two cute daughters, I love building stuff, shopping thrift stores, and decorating (and re-decorating) my home. I approach all decorating pretty simply. I like a casual feel to our and my approach to spring decorating reflects that. I follow a few simple steps when it comes to decorating for spring. I’d love to share my spring decorating tips at the end of my tour today.
This tour is co-hosted by Country Living Magazine – be sure to check out their Spring Decorating Ideas.
Our entryway houses this entryway organizer that Matt and I built several years ago. It is definitely in the running for the most used piece of furniture in our home.
The girls sit here and put their shoes on. It also serves as our drop zone for all the things.
These gerberas from the grocery store were so pretty, they had to come home with me.
Our living room also got the spring spruce up.
The typical blue and white pillows got swapped out for something a little more cheerful.
We love our cozy throws in this house so, of course they are always available to grab and bundle up.
I found this little side table at Home Goods and I tossed it in my cart as soon as I could! I’ve been hunting for the perfect table to go next to this chair.
The second part of our living room contains a little sitting area around our fireplace.
Three Spring Decorating Tips:
Florals and greenery
I love having fresh blooms in my house all year long but especially this time of year. Nothing shouts spring like a bunch of flowers. I’m a fan of mixing real with faux. I put eucalyptus branches in recycled glass vases that I found at Home Goods. I also decorate with faux boxwood wreaths, daisies, tulips, and a variety of greens. I love to buy a bundles of flowers and greens from the grocery store.
Change up your pillows
Changing your pillows and other small accessories is such a great way to quickly and fairly inexpensively change up your space for spring. Having a neutral sofa makes it very easy to switch out pillow covers at anytime for a fresh look. For spring, I added in a few colorful pillows to my sofa. I also added a couple of floor pillows to my living room for a little extra seating around our coffee table. The girls love to play games here or just lay on the floor while watching tv. These floor pillows found at Home Goods get so much use and they are really so cute.
Style up your mantel [faux mantel]
We gave our fireplace a total makeover last year and since then, I’ve been enjoying having a mantel to decorate. It’s the perfect place to add seasonal decor. To style my mantel for spring I added two tall pieces to either side of the mantel to anchor it and then added in other pieces. Both the recycled glass vase and the large woven vase were found at Home Goods. If you don’t have a mantel, you can style up a faux mantel like some kitchen shelves or even a console table.
